The Dublin Bay Prawn Festival is the ultimate foodie experience in the pictureesque village of Howth, county Dublin. This 4 day event is held over St Patrick's Day Weekend 17th, 18th & 19th March.

There will be delicious food and craft beer. Wine tastings as well as live cooking demos from our executive chef Siobhan Quinn MacDonagh and owner / chef John Aungier. Nevin Maquire will also be hosting a live cookery demo (Sat 18th at 1pm in the demo tent)

We have street entertainment and demonstrations by local fishermen all in the heart Howth. The Brass Monkey will be a main attraction once again at the food tents serving delicious Prawn Spires with fries.

The festive atmosphere will continue into the evening as Howth’s bars and restaurants will host a special fixed price festive menu and entertainment for all. And it’s not just the culinary offerings that make the festival so memorable, the Dublin Bay Prawn Festival is also famous for music & entertainment, walks, talks and seaside antics.

This is a very busy weekend with entertainment into the night, so be sure to book a table to avoid disappointment! Call 01 806 3746.

Please use public transport. DART and buses. Public parking is limited.

East Pier closed due to dangerous waves

East Pier closed due to dangerous waves

There were dramatic scenes here in Howth over the weekend with the Coast Guard closing the East pier for safety reasons. Huge waves were seen sweeping over the pier causing safety issues to walkers and passers by.

The Coast Guard warned: "If you see the spray of the waves reaching on the pier, don’t walk it. Waves can be unpredictable, a lull of ten minutes can be followed by intense waves powerful enough to knock you over and cause injury or wash you off the pier wall."

The Coast Guard added: "We ask the public to call the Coast Guard at 112 or 999 if they see people who are likely to get into difficulty, don’t expect someone else to make the call."
